RAMA processes audio on your Mac. It does not upload recordings, filenames, sound settings, or exports to Pat Carroll or Lemon Squeezy.
The short version
You choose which audio RAMA opens. Playback and WAV rendering happen locally. The paid app makes limited native licence requests to Lemon Squeezy for an activation preflight, activation, and deliberate deactivation. It does not perform periodic validation. RAMA does not contain ads, analytics, automatic crash reporting, cloud sync, or a developer-operated audio server.
What this policy covers
This policy covers the RAMA macOS app, the RAMA product and support pages on pcarroll.au, and support correspondence with Pat Carroll. Lemon Squeezy and other services have their own privacy policies for information they process.
Audio and settings RAMA handles
RAMA handles audio files that you deliberately choose, drop into the app, or reopen from Recent Materials. It also handles lightweight .rama project files, loop selections, sound settings, appearance and interface-size choices, WAV exports, the local export folder you choose, and the licence key you deliberately enter.
RAMA does not automatically scan your music library, require a RAMA account, or request access to your microphone.
Local processing and storage
Selected audio is decoded and processed on your Mac. RAMA does not upload audio, waveforms, filenames, exports, or sound settings to Pat Carroll. The original file is not moved, renamed, changed, or deleted.
RAMA does not keep private copies of user audio. Recent Materials stores only absolute paths and basic file details. A .rama project stores either that original-file reference or a Bundled Material ID plus loop, sound, appearance, export, and interface settings as small JSON text; it does not embed audio. RAMA also stores Bundled Material favourites and non-sensitive preferences locally.
WAV exports remain in the local folder selected in RAMA, with Downloads used initially. The selected folder path is remembered locally. Removing RAMA does not remove exports or original source files.
Licence activation and deactivation
Licence requests are made only by RAMA’s native Rust layer over HTTPS to Lemon Squeezy’s License API. Before activation consumes a device slot, RAMA sends the trimmed key by itself to confirm it belongs to the RAMA product and variant. Activation then sends the key plus a randomly generated label such as RAMA Mac 7F3A2C. Deliberate deactivation sends the stored key and Lemon Squeezy instance ID. There is no later validation request.
These requests do not include audio, filenames, waveforms, sound settings, a Mac serial number, hardware UUID, username, or home-folder path. RAMA does not contain a private Lemon Squeezy store API key.
The key necessarily exists briefly in the password-style activation field and the JavaScript argument used to hand it to native Rust. RAMA does not save that field or key in WebView storage. After submission, the saved full key and Lemon Squeezy instance ID remain in the native Keychain record and are never returned to JavaScript.
Lemon Squeezy may return the complete key together with licence, instance, customer, order, product, and variant metadata. RAMA verifies Product 1282135 and Variant 2004775, then discards customer details and other fields it does not need. It does not display, log, retain, or include returned customer names, email addresses, or complete keys in copied error reports.
Keychain and offline use
After successful activation, RAMA stores a versioned licence record in macOS Keychain. It contains the complete key, instance ID, random installation label, activation timestamp, compatibility fields from earlier releases, and minimal product, variant, and status metadata. The ordinary interface receives only non-sensitive status, permitted-device information, a key reference of no more than four characters, and safe error details.
A successful activation is permanent on that Mac. RAMA does not expire it, bind it to an app version, perform periodic licence validation, or require later internet access for playback and export. Updates with the same bundle identifier continue using the same Keychain record.
Successful deactivation removes only the Keychain licence record. A network or server failure retains it and shows a redacted, copyable error. Licence problems never delete references, projects, settings, source files, or exports.
Purchases
RAMA purchases are processed by Lemon Squeezy. Lemon Squeezy may collect and process information needed for checkout, payment, tax, fraud prevention, receipts, licence delivery, refunds, and customer access. This can include your name, email address, billing information, country, order details, and technical request information.
Pat Carroll may receive order, customer, licence, and refund information made available through the Lemon Squeezy seller account. Pat Carroll does not receive your full payment-card details.
The public License API documents inactive, active, expired, and disabled licence statuses, but no separate refunded status. Following a refund, RAMA responds to the invalid or disabled state that Lemon Squeezy returns rather than collecting separate refund information in the app.
Other network access
The RAMA desktop app bundles IBM Plex Mono locally and does not request its interface font from Google. Website and email links open only when you choose them.
The public RAMA pages may load normal website assets, including web fonts, or create ordinary server logs under the website’s privacy information. That activity is separate from desktop audio processing.
Information not collected by the app
The reviewed desktop app does not include a RAMA account system, advertising, behavioural tracking, analytics, cloud synchronisation, automatic crash reporting, location tracking, or a developer-operated audio upload service.
Support messages
If you email support, Pat Carroll receives your email address, message, and anything else you choose to include. This is used to reply, investigate an issue, administer a purchase or licence, or consider feedback. It is not sold or used for behavioural advertising.
Please do not send an audio file, licence key, or personal information unless it is genuinely needed. Support correspondence may be retained for as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain support and transaction records, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations. The email provider handles messages under its own privacy practices.
Sharing and sale of information
Pat Carroll does not sell customer information or audio. Information is shared only with service providers needed to run the purchase, licensing, website, email, and support functions; when you ask for or authorise the sharing; or when required by law.
Your choices
You choose which audio enters RAMA, which Bundled Materials are marked as favourites, where exports are written, and when to activate or deactivate this Mac. Moving RAMA to the Bin does not automatically deactivate it or remove its Keychain record. If possible, use deactivate this Mac first. A failed deactivation deliberately retains the record so an activation is not silently lost.
Recent references, preferences, project files, Keychain state, source recordings, and exports are separate kinds of data and are not all removed by one action. If the old Mac is unavailable, contact support.

Children’s privacy
RAMA is not directed at children under 13, and the app is not designed to collect personal information from children. Purchase and support services should be used by someone able to enter the relevant agreement or with appropriate permission.
Security
RAMA limits licence networking to its native layer, keeps the complete key in macOS Keychain, and strictly redacts licence error reports. Ordinary loading, playback and export reports are generated locally and are shared only when you deliberately copy and send them; review them first because they may contain a filename/path and technical system details. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. Protect your Mac account, purchase email, and licence key, and keep backups of important source files and exports.
Changes and contact
